This premium Eufy bot is the top hands off model we have tried so far. It vacuums, mops and self-empties and drys mop pads all without you having to do anything.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming with a robot hoover is a simple, quick method to keep your floors looking and feeling clean. A majority of the robots featured that we recommend are designed to work without your input You can set them to run while you're away or initiate cleaning sessions using your smartphone. However, you'll want to choose a model that has superior navigation and obstacle detection so that it won't get stuck down the stairs or underneath furniture.

It's important to select the best robot vacuum that is able to effectively and efficiently clean all kinds of flooring. Find a robot that has a large dustbin that will hold a large amount of dirt between emptying, and a nozzle which does not lose suction when it turns.

Most robots require little to any maintenance, other than cleaning the tangled fur off the rotating brush after each cleaning session (and wiping its camera or sensors as needed) and regularly emptying the bin, or using a robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these easy maintenance tips, your robot vacuum will last as long as larger vacuums and keep your home cleaner for longer.

Robotic mops aren't as versatile than vacuums, however some also remove puddles and spills. The iLife V3s Pro, a good example of this type of machine, is an excellent option for those who have carpets and rugs or wood floors. It is quiet and has good navigation capabilities, which helped it overcome obstacles during tests. The charging dock can also function as a trash bin.

Pick a robot vacuum cleaner that can also mop at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 is able to do this, and it also comes with other features that are useful, such as live cameras that transmits a blurry picture to your app so you can keep an eye on your kids or pet and remote controls that are easily programmed. The navigation might not be as good as the other models in this collection but its 500ml trash bin is big enough and doesn't require frequent emptying.

Mopping

Robots that mop and vacuum are a relatively new addition to the market. These robots are more expensive and require a separate tank of water, unlike standalone robots. However, they might be worth the extra cost for those who have stains that are difficult to clean or pets.

The best robots can clean carpets and floors and also vacuum. Several brands now offer all-in-one robotics that perform both tasks with ease. The Combo j9+, for instance, is among the best mopping robots we've tested. It comes with an impressively large dock that can hold up to 60 days of dirt. This is a huge improvement over the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping only 30 days worth of dirt in our tests.

The Tapo RV30 Plus from networking giant TP Link is a great two-in-one. It's quiet, compact and has a clean, fuss-free appearance. In our test rooms, it scrubbed the floors thoroughly and precisely - it was particularly good on rugs but it took several runs to thoroughly clean some areas of soiled wood. Its LIDAR navigation works well, too. It prevents hitting furniture and running over power cables.

It's a bit slow on the stairs, but that's to be expected from a compact robot designed to work around obstacles. The only issue is its mopping pad attachment which was a challenge and wouldn't stay in its place during our tests. It is also not capable of handling dust that has dried and dust, which makes it more like an ordinary vacuum cleaner than a robot mop.

Despite these shortcomings however, it's a great choice for those who want an effortless cleaning experience that can take care of bare and low-pile carpets with equal competence. It was able to provide a lot of suction, which helped it remove fine dust from carpets and pet hair. Automatic recognition of carpets is a wonderful feature because it boosts the vacuuming power to better tackle embedded dirt. It's easy to use, and the charging dock automatically empty the dustbin when it is full. This is a fantastic feature for those who live in apartments.

Cleaning Apps

The majority of robot vacuums, mop and sweepers have an app that allows you to alter the cleaning routines. You can also choose rooms to be cleaned, plan cleaning sessions, and alter settings like suction, the amount of water and scrubbing power. Some robots offer intelligent dirt detection that utilizes map data and past cleaning data to identify dirty areas.

Having an app also allows you to set up virtual barriers and no-go zones to shield your robot from potentially dangerous objects such as cords and pet water bowls and sharp objects. Some models have laser navigation sensors that permit you to create virtual barriers, while others come with small physical barriers and boundary strips can be put anywhere you want to block your floor area.

The top  robot vac uums and mops are intelligent enough to spot obstacles and navigate around them however there are some hazards to watch out for. The primary brush of a robot may get stuck in long cords or curtains, and stop it from moving. You can prevent this from happening by clearing the area of any cords and tying up any curtains that are long before operating your robot.

Some robots will automatically update the software that controls their navigation and obstacle avoidance techniques, which enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal components. It is recommended to check regularly the website of the manufacturer or the app of your robot for firmware updates.

If you have a huge home, look for models that have multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max, for instance, can mop and vacuum on both hard floors and carpeted rooms with different suction levels. It can also automatically switch to the highest power setting for carpets and boost its scrubbing power by using SmartScrub.

It comes with a compact self-emptying docking station, as well as a powerful cleaning engine that makes your floors sparkling.
